SeaAlderney 2005 Trafalgar Harbour
Festival and “Trafalgar- the Death of
Nelson” Open Air Theatre Spectactular
staged by the Alderney RNLI and sponsored by Wave
Telecom
–a big barbecue and fun party at Braye Harbour to
celebrate SeaAlderney 2005: music,
RNLI demonstrations and plenty of events, action and entertainment for
islanders and visiting yachtsmen.
Highlights included a star performance of Alderney’s Trent class
lifeboat “Roy Barker I” and the spectacular “Trafalgar- the Death of Nelson”
open air theatre performance by the Alderney Theatre Group in the Inner
Harbour which will be repeated on 5 August at 9.00pm

SeaAlderney 2005 -
International Regatta - a great sailing weekend with feeder races to Alderney,
around the island and to the nearby French harbour of Dielette for dinner and
overnight stay, which allows competitors to join their French friends at the annual Dielette Harbour Festival.

Alderney Week – the island’s biggest, most colourful and most popular
annual event. Carnival atmosphere and entertainment for all to enjoy, no
matter what age.
And ,
although the theme for the 2005 Alderney Week is “The Musicals ”,
there will be a number of Sea-related events, including a second open air
theatre performance of “Trafalgar- the Death of Nelson Show in the Inner

SeaAlderney 2005 - JOG Race to Alderney(via Needles ) Organised by JOG, the race starts on 12 August at 1800 in Cowes
and the first boats are expected to arrive in Alderney’s Braye Harbour on

SeaAlderney 2005 Trafalgar
Weekend
To mark the 200th anniversary of this important
victory, Alderney will take part in the Beacon Chain on Friday 21 October .
The Chain starts at 6.45pm with the National Beacon being lit alongside HMS
Victory in Portsmouth, followed by Ballater ( Scotland), HMS Cambria (near Barry, Wales), Slieve Donard in the
Mourne Mountains (Northern Ireland), the Painted Hall Greenwich, London,
Burnham Thorpe (Norfolk), and 7.15pm on the Butes in Alderney and across the
other Channel Islands. Three maroons will also be launched.
On Saturday 22 October, the Alderney Branch of the RNLI is
hosting a Black & Gold Trafalgar Ball in the Island Hall which
will feature a nautical decor. The gala night will commence with a
dramatic "Battle of Trafalgar" presentation by Lady
Hamilton (alias Andrée Gaydon) and guests will be treated to a
traditional Battle of Trafalgar dinner before the start of the ball.
On Sunday at 7.00pm - subject to permission
- the bells of St. Anne will ring a
‘final salute’ to Nelson and the brave crews of the British Fleet.
