The
year 2005 marks the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar
and the death of Admiral Lord Nelson. To celebrate Britain’s relationship with
the sea, its coastline and its estuaries, the National Maritime Museum and
VisitBritain are staging a year-long festival entitled:

In
2005, the Channel Island of Alderney will join these nationwide
celebrations of the Battle of Trafalgar with its very own
programme of nautical and maritime events which are in addition to the
island’s already very busy annual diary of events published on this website.

Alderney has released its own set of stamps to commemorate the famous Battle of Trafalgar and a has commissioned the Royal Mint to produce a Trafalgar
Commemorative coin.
